If you have flooding or dampness in your basement you may need to invest in a sump pump. A sump pump takes water collected at the lowest point in your basement (called a sump pump pit) and moves it away from your home. Most sump pumps are hardwired directly into your house’s electrical system. There are generally 2 types: submersible and pedestal. The submersible type is located down in the sump pit itself and is hidden from sight. The pedestal style has the motor mounted above the sump pit where it is more conspicuous.
Like any electro-mechanical device, it is possible for a sump pump to fail. A pump that operated more frequently will be more prone to failure. Some basements have two sump pumps, one primary and one for back up. This ensures that even in the event of such a failure, the basement will stay dry. Some sump pumps also have battery backs so the pump will operate even if the power goes out.
MTP can help you maintain a dry basement, whether it is a new sump pump install, replacement of a worn out unit or the addition of a back up pump. MTP has you covered.
